After reading the absolute disaster that was ‘City of Fallen Angels’, I was nervous to read the next installment in the series. I was once again pleasantly surprised on how much I enjoyed this novel. I thoroughly enjoyed the plot and characters. The novel was full of action, adventure, drama and romance that left me wanting more and hanging onto every word. My only issue was how slow the novel was. The plot did seem to drag on certain areas and it took a while for anything of extreme importance to happen. Honestly, I had to put down the book a few times during the beginning because of how slow it was going. The end result was worth the slow pace in the beginning. I also found myself rooting for the characters more than normal and thought that the plot was well written in the novel. I can’t wait to read the last installment in the series! Rating – 4/5. @Average_Bookworm of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board

The fifth book in the Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare, this is my second favourite instalment of the series. We meet the new villain of the series who is more menacing and insane than the previous one, which truly says something. I couldn't put this book down when I was reading it during the winter of sixth grade for the first time. Each character has an intriguing storyline that just keeps you from putting the book down and actually getting a good night’s sleep. One of the best books in the author’s early career, though it does have some intense elements and themes that younger children shouldn't be reading. Overall though, I'd say that Lost Souls is an amazing piece of literature that I will forever want to reread. 5/5 Stars. @SeraphinaWilliams of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board
