Imogen is a runaway heiress, an orphan, a cook, and a cheat. Jule is a fighter, a social chameleon, and an athlete. An intense friendship. A disappearance. A murder, or maybe two. A bad romance, or maybe three. Blunt objects, disguises, blood, and chocolate. The American dream, superheroes, spies, and villains. A girl who refuses to give people what they want from her. I really enjoyed this book. Lockhart's writing style flows easily, the main characters are intriguing, and the suspense in this story makes you want to keep reading. I finished this book in one night! If you read her other suspense novel "We Were Liars" and enjoyed that, there's a good chance you'll like this one too.

Much like "We Were Liars" makes you evaluate events and the role that an entire family has in events, "Genuine Fraud" makes you evaluate exactly what a friendship is and is Jule more one than the other.

When we meet Jule she is living it up at a fancy resort. We then follow her story and history with her friend Imogen back in time over the course of a year or so. Is there a friendship between these two? Is one simply obsessed in the other. How is Jule doing what she doing and did Imogen cause anything? It's a perfectly enjoyable, albeit predictable, thriller. That being said I did basically inhale it in two sittings.
