I just love this cute little bunch of chickens. Now that we are into the third adventure you can really see their separate personalities coming through. Sugar was true to her interrupting, impulsive self in this escapade. Dirt was also featured and her notes on the surveillance of the box in the yard were a hoot. Their moustaches and marshmallow belts made me laugh out loud. Great illustrations throughout.

It was fun to have mama chicken come into the story, too. Looking forward to seeing what these little yellow fluffballs continue to explore their backyard.

Into the Wild! Yet Another Misadventure by Doreen Cronin, 93 pages.
@ SPL: J FIC Croni
There’s a mysterious new cage in the barnyard.
The Chicken Squad, curious as always, is determined to know more about it. Who – or what – is the new arrival? Is it dangerous … and why doesn’t it ever come out of its cage?
Before long, the four chickens suspect that their new “farm mate” – who is definitely not a chicken - is up to no good!
Equipped with the latest surveillance gear (including some ridiculous disguises and a plentiful supply of marshmallows), the intrepid chickens venture out into the “wild” (the edge of the farmyard) and prepare a stake-out location in hopes of finding some answers.
Their contrasting personalities, hilarious antics and a sudden bad storm lead to chicken mayhem as they attempt to use “the scientific method” (hypothesis, observation and testing) in the most unscientific ways possible to solve the barnyard mystery!
This is the third book in the laugh-out-loud Chicken Squad series of easy-to-read chapter books by Doreen Cronin, who is also the author of Click, Clack, Moo, Cows That Type. The fourth title, Dark Shadows: Yes, Another Misadventure”, has just been published.
