This series is a puzzle waiting to be put together. You meet the suspects from the very start, before you even know they are suspects, as well as the detectives. DCI Cassie Stuart is that rare thing, an emotional fictional detective. Most detectives I've seen keep an emotional distance from their cases and victims and just concentrate on catching the perpetrator. Cassie is not only a methodical crime solver, she also understands and empathizes with the emotional toll that murder has on the victim's loved ones left behind, which drives her and her team. Nicola Walker is superb as Cassie. She's equal parts tough and vulnerable. Sanjeev Bhaskar as DI Sunil "Sunny" Khan, Cassie's colleague, is an excellent actor and offers up a nice dose of wit and a little humor. I love that they cast an Indian in this integral part. Cassie and Sunny are friends and mutual supports rather than just co-workers. The suspects and eventual killer are treated as whole individuals with flaws and passions. You understand their motives, not just reviled by them. This series is ridiculously addictive. I've seen all three.

Nicola Walker is excellent as always in this serial crime drama starring a murder that occurred more than 50 years earlier. Interesting series because there are actually several suspects involved in several crimes which are only unearthed due to investigation of the initial cold case. Starts slow and then builds momentum, involving the lives of a vicar, a politician, and an elderly couple and their two sons.

So many police procedurals to choose from. I decided to watch this one because of my interest to see if Tom Courtenay could still act. He does a very good job here and is just a bonus to a pretty interesting series. I just may see if the second series holds up without Courtenay.

...Excellent writing/script...Excellent actors...Just finished watching Season one and two...I recently discovered the versatile acting of Nicola Walker in the British Series "River" & "Last Tango In Halifax", again in this series, she is such a believable, talented actress....Markham Library, please order Season three and Season four as soon as possible....I highly recommend this Series...

Unforgotten establishes a formula for a crime drama which the series will likely adhere to as long as it continues. Series One includes some very good performances including one from Tom Courtney as well as a restrained rendition of a 'guv' from Nicola Walker. Fictional cold cases continue to provide fodder for British TV productions. "Waking the Dead" is also recommended as well as "New Tricks."

Great series. Everyone paid for their crimes one way or another. All except the murderer of 2 men in my opinion. Some would think it was karma how the killers life turned out. Looking forward to season 3 and 4. Saw season 2 on tv.
