This drama/crime film is about two retired old people who are furious that their pensions aren’t doing their job, and decide to rob a bank in order to earn a little extra money. The comedic aspects of this film were the only things helping it, since this storyline has already been done so many times. The characters were likable enough and had some chemistry, but I didn’t find this movie outrageously funny or the least bit compelling. I would rate this very average film 2.5/5 stars, and recommend it to those who like bank robbery films with very unexpected culprits. @The_Reviewer of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board

The entire film looks like a school play by grade 6, no, grade 3. Story, directing all so very disappointing. What a waste of talented performers like Alun Armstrong and Philip Davies. It all comes down to the experienes of writer and director and how seriously they take their job. Make a pass on this movie, and you can still keep a good impression of English film making.

Most enjoyable, top notch acting by one of the greatest casts you could assemble. The story is very close to home in today's society. Take the time to enjoy this wonderful film

How do you like your comedy? Broad and farcical? Falling-down slap-stick? Subtle and satirical?

This is a bad example of the first. The very best comedy combines two or more of the above--the leading practitioner, in my opinion, is Jim Carrey (Liar, Lair and The Mask are standouts.) None of these performers are Carrey, but they're not entirely to blame for missing the mark (or, most marks) with this lacklustre "caper" flick. Film-crime (and I mean it) accomplices are the scriptwriter and director.

I like my comedy really funny--this isn't--and that's enough, but it helps when the snickers come from sharp, comic finger-pokes at moral or social issues. A hammer (employed here) simply dulls the effect.

I barely signed this out when I noticed that 101 others were waiting to borrow it. That's not surprising, given Fraser Valley and library demographics, and a movie plot that could be described as "Old codgers--and codger-esses--fight back against being sidelined socially and economically." But warned, people! I could have done better; you can, too.

Unless you have time to waste, it's really not worth it at all.

Rated 4/10. Lots of good talented actors in this movie, but disappointed with the script.

It was definitely not as funny as the trailer that we saw that convinced us to watch this.

The ending was rushed, with lots of loose ends not tied up. It felt "unfinished".

All-in-all, could have been so much better. The 4 rating is for the actors' efforts.

If you have low standards and like watching older good actors working with a mediocre script with lots of loose ends, this film is for you.

Took a chance with this on the basis of the cast of British veterans, but they were not enough to redeem this predictable 'revenge of the pensioners' story. Inoffensive but (ironically) juvenile. This pensioner decided he had something better to do after about thirty minutes.

I am surprised more old people don't do this, the way they are treated. But I'm not suggesting anything.

Watched part of it, but this theme has been done too many times, and done much better.
