Skyscraper is an action film starring Dwayne Johnson. The film is about, a former FBI agent trying to save his family from the tallest building in the world, while its under a terrorist attack. The film released in July 13, 2018 and made 300 million in its box office weekend. The reason I found this film quite special is because Dwayne Johnson thought of the idea and pitched it himself, and it truly came to the big screens. Throughout this movie the main idea is that, a man will do anything to save his family, and it shows as Will Sawyer goes to terrifying and thrilling levels to save his family despite his disabilities. The start of the movie specifically highlights how one of Will Sawyers missions went horribly wrong and caused his leg to blow off. The film uses that to show even through Will is not as capable as other people he was still able to save his family. The actors in this movie also did an amazing job at portraying the characters emotions. The fight scenes and stunts in this movie are very realistic and the CGI was done very well. Despite the skyscraper in this movie was completely fake is looked very realistic. I think this movie did a good job with the ending as even when everything looked bad for Will and his daughter, he didn’t give up and kept fighting to earn a happy ending. In my opinion you should really check this film out for an enjoyable experience. Thank you so much for reading this. 4/5 Stars. @ButterChicken of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board

I liked it, very much in the Die Hard mold. It doesn't have the cringe inducing scenes (the director/actors don't give them the same weight as in DH, but losing a leg could easily have been up there if they wanted to play it up). It was nice seeing Neve C again. I'll likely watch it again sometime.

Written and directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber in 2018, this American disaster drama depicts the fire of a newly built Hong Kong skyscraper.
Although special effects appear great, the script seems ill-contrived and looks like those of other disaster films like "The Towering Inferno" and "Die Hard".
Unrealistic!
You definitely need a willing suspension of disbelief.

Always liked watching Neve Campbell movies. She did it again...made her co-stars look better. This is a really fun movie if you like action movies. It's a good pace and very well directed. Good acting...not Academy worthy...but good for action movies. I really enjoyed it, and I think you would too.

An ok film, as long as you ignore the two or three "impossible" or at-the-very-least "highly unlikely" situations. Otherwise an interesting and well done film. Nice to see Neve Campbell (Scream 4: 2011, Titanic: Blood and Steel:tv: 2012) again.
Some extras on the DVD.

A modernized Towering Inferno, exciting and fast paced. This one will work best in 3D on a big screen for its high altitude scenes. Well done actioner.

This is a ridiculous and bad movie, but depending on your expectations you may find it enjoyable. Dwayne Johnson is a very charismatic and likeable action hero. The movie is mildly entertaining and has lots of action. The movie villains are terribly mediocre and lame and the plot is ridiculous. Really, the plot and dialogue don't matter much in this movie. Dwayne Johnson needs to save his family from a burning skyscraper! That's about it. If you want something meaningful and thoughtful, then you should pick a different movie but if you just want to curl up on the sofa and watch something big, loud and dumb, then this could be enjoyable enough.

One of Dwayne Johnson's greatest movies! And that is saying a lot, considering that he hasn't made very many good movie. This movie has an intact family throughout. I can't say too much because it would spoil it.

But of course, they had to ruin it with the profanity. That has brought the rating down. It would have been 4.5 stars, but it is 3.5.

This movie is very very cliched and takes the easy way out each time. Action scenes are just not physically or physiologically possible. Fights are arranged conveniently (dear casting: please cast one female villain so that the mom has someone to fight at the end). The role of family as being the only thing that counts; dozens of security guards and innocent, fine humans are killed but they don't dampen the day because none of them were related to the Rock or to Neve (it's nice to see her again) Campbell.
It actually starts out pretty well. The tour of the building shows imagination which is pretty cool. It might have been a better movie if things actually just went smoothly. I feel like it is Jurassic-Park-Syndrome - whenever someone rich in a movie builds an astonishing scientific and engineering marvel, it must all go catastrophically wrong for it's debut.
