ERAGON: "And what am I supposed to do with this?"
ANGELA: "Read it, of course! Why else would I traipse across the whole of Alagaesia and beyond but to get the informed opinion of a man raised as an illiterate farmer?"
ERAGON: "Very funny."

TORNAC: "That's a very impressive scar. You should be proud of it."
ESSIE: Why? It's ugly, and I hate it."
TORNAC: "Because a scar means you survived. It means you're tough and hard to kill. It means you lived. A scar is something to admire."

Add a CommentPrett nice for a collection of short stories. Glad the Paolini is getting back to Alagaesia.
This book is not so much a story in itself as a collection of them. But while I would love another full-fledged Eragon book, I think this works. It gives us brief glimpses into the world of Alagaesia and its characters sometime after the events of Inheritance, which will always be of great interest. This book could serve as a springboard for a new series based in that world, or it could exist as its own thing. Either way it works! My only problem is that the story on Angela doesn’t actually reveal much about her. But then again, if we knew how Angela ticked, then she wouldn’t be Angela, so I, like Eragon, have some mixed feelings about that part of the book. But no matter what, long-time Inheritance fans need to read this! Ten out of ten! @R2-D2 of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board
I simply love the Inheritance Series Books starting with 'Eragon.' 'The Fork, the Witch, and the Worm' was my seventh Christopher Paolini book. Recommended reading by Doctor-at-Bass-Fishing-too. Taylor. A.
I have been waiting for this book for 4 years since I finished the others. It’s about time we get more. I so glad to be able to revisit my favorite characters again.
Thank the gods, we're back in Alegasia! Paolini returns to the world of the Inheritance Cycle with this trio of short stories. A restless Eragon seeks peace from his duties in the stories and visions related to him by the elder dragons, who have been keeping an eye on the land. Well known characters like Murtagh, Elva, and Angela the Herbalist make a return in their own stories, that of Angela being written by Angela Paolini, the original inspiration for the character. Paolini's expert world, race, and culture building are points that have always stood out in his writing. Now they show as he continues to spin tales from his own cast of original characters, combining new concepts with the familiarity of old friends.
This book was a super easy read! Out of the threes stories, I think I liked the last one the best. The Fork, the Witch and the Worm picks up about a year after the ending of the Inheritance Cycle and has Eragon trying to juggle some of his responsibilities and problems. While doing this, he takes away some lessons (from each of the short stories) and tries to apply them to whatever he's dealing with. I enjoyed the stories, because I think the Paolinis did a good job of trying to make them all have positive messages. I just wish this book was longer. I think it would have been fun to have another big novel or big book five, but I guess not.
Entertaining, but I'm not sure if it is worth all the hype it has gotten. Reading this only whetted my appetite for more Inheritance books. Based on how this one goes, I'm fairly confident we'll see more adventures, but this was more of an appetizer than a main course.
Of the three short stories included, the third is by far the best of the lot. Better yet, it builds on existing lore and really brings home some of the assertions about the Urgals.
This is the book we have long been awaiting...
A 2018 Must-Read Young Adult pick! The internationally bestselling fantasy sensation is back, with brand-new stories set in the world of Eragon and the Inheritance Cycle! Get on hold today!
It's about time Mr. Paolini! I came to love your books almost 15yrs ago, while introducing a new series to my elementary child, Josiah. We instantly fell in love with Eragon's wild adventures, a great segway after the Magic Tree House and 39 Clues Series. Thank you for bringing your character back to life once more. Again, well done!
