This musical style biography of Elton John was a tongue in cheek look at an amazing rock legend.
We are introduced to Reggie when he's a child and we are shown how unwelcoming his family was and learn possibly why he did the things he did.

The music was fantastic. Taron Egerton did an excellent job representing Elton. Same with Bryce Dallas Howard portraying Elton's mom.
There are some scenes in this movie that are exceedingly graphic so be warned. The subject matter did make my heart hurt.

If you enjoy music, biopic and Elton John, watch this movie.
You'll be singing along and long after the movie is done.

Not what I expected but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Rocketman was more a tone poem or creative exploration of Elton John's life and work, rather than a standard biopic, and on that level, it is a success. Good acting
(whoever thought to cast Bryce Dallas Howard as his cold mum should be congratulated!) and the dance/costumes/orchestration were very good. I must confess I'd like to see a more standard documentary about EJ's life and career but that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy this for what it is.

Really, honestly, just a really good musical about the life of Elton John. People always compare this to Bohemian Rhapsody because they came out within a year of each other. This movie trounces Bohemian Rhapsody into the dust. Yes this movie is campy, and kind of silly at times, but it's also got a lot of really amazing moments as well. Definitely check it out if you like musicals or Elton John, definitely check this one out.

I thought the Rock Opera Tommy was the worst ever done...until now..this movie was a bunch of 10 minute vignettes sugar coating the downsides ( like bohemian rhapsody) tited of the woe is me i am a neglected son..GROW UP!!..THE ACTOR WSS JUST ok and the songs were was THE most disappointing movie of the year..i see many others are not in agreement with

I love, love, loved this Rock Opera on the life of Elton John. The way they used his music to tell his story was very artistic. I also liked the way they didn't gloss over the not very nice side of his personality and showed him for who he truly is "warts and all".

A rocking romp through what Elton John's life might have looked like if it had happened to be an adult-themed Broadway show. I have been virtually a lifelong Elton fan and was hoping the movie would do his life justice. I went into it with an open mind and was not disappointed. Granted, songs used to illustrate certain scenes are not necessarily in proper chronological order, but I felt that the choice of songs used was quite effective in getting the necessary message across. Liberties taken with known facts made me cringe at times, and I would have liked to have seen more about his relationships with his band members, but overall I loved it. Taron Egerton is absolutely superb as Elton and the other cast members do their jobs well. Sex and drugs and rock and roll.

It was an interesting way to produce a biography. At first, the musical-like bursts throughout the movie seemed a bit off - like they didn't fit in with the rest of the style of the film; then, as the movie went on, the musical-like singing bits blended into the story line a little better (or we got used to them). By the end of the movie we were wanting more and loved it. I wouldn't mind buying/owning this movie so I'd say it was a great one to watch!

Not a fan of Elton Johns early music and flamboyant style, but the acting was very good. His home life, except for his Nan was very sad. I’m glad he eventually found happiness.

Saw this in the cinema, it was like getting on a train that sped fast until the closing credits. It's breaks free of the usual tired tropes of the biopic and is more like a musical fantasy ; a reframing of the difficult parts of an artist's life into a work that transports and transcends. (The narrative though-line is Elton checks himself into a rehab for addiction and tells his life story in group therapy sessions.)

A peek into the early life of Elton John. An entertaining movie, especially if you like him and enjoy his music!
