While I can see that the character can certainly be someone some readers can relate to, Ms. Marvel doesn't really work for me. This volume, set against the backdrop of the second Marvel Civil War has Kamala with divided loyalties, particularly when some of her friends are effected. One character in particular, whose technological capabilities and armour are never explained, is particularly obnoxious in her authoritarian world view- don't teenagers have anything better to do instead of becoming wannabe goose stepping zealots? There's also a gang of Canadian crooks whose entire way of behaving frankly leave me wondering if the writer has ever been to Canada.
