This book is a lovely read, full of complex characters. I appreciated the taped interview pieces particularly. A delight!

This is not a spoiler as you learn right away that an 11 year old boy dies, but what you also learn is how his death brings together a circle of people who loved him. They learn to heal and honor his life and in doing so honor their own lives.
It is a wonderful story of back-stories including the boy's best friend, a 104 year old woman who with his help was hoping to break a Guinness world record and help him earn a scout badge.
A good story of grief, regret and forgiveness.

You think you are getting a light, ‘fast read’ kind of book when you first pick this one up, especially at the start, but once you get into it, the themes that emerge can be thought provoking. Loss is the main premise and the author gives it to us in many angles, of a child, a parent, a marriage. Even if you think this description sounds depressing, I feel Monica Wood has handled all of this with a gentle hand and humour. This book was recommended to me and I’m definitely going to recommend it to others. (Submitted by Renee)

I loved the context of this book. A great story. I gave it a 3 because it was definitely not a quick read for me.

Such a beautiful story. Believable, likeable characters taking the reader through their stories - love, loss, redemption - connecting just by living the day to day and being human. So sad but also hopeful and inspiring.

I loved the way this book was written. An easy flowing read. Funny and sad. I didn't want it to finish as the characters were people like you knew or wanted to know.
