JJ, aka John Shaft Jr., may be a cyber security expert with a degree from MIT, but to uncover the truth behind his best friend's untimely death, he needs an education only his dad can provide. Absent throughout JJ's youth, the legendary locked-and-loaded John Shaft agrees to help his progeny navigate Harlem's heroin-infested underbelly. And while JJ's own FBI analyst's badge may clash with his dad's trademark leather duster, there's no denying family.

This was excellent! Shaft was as much of a crusty hero as he's always been, and Junior grew as the film went on. There's lots of action, and of course, as it is shaft, there is also a lot of cursing, so if you find that offensive, you won't care for this movie. We are hoping that there will be another sequel.

A mild, implausible, poorly-written comedy/send-up of weak, boring millennials improved only a little by Samuel Jackson. Who writes this drivel? The series with Richard Roundtree was so endlessly superior. Crap score with hardly any play of the legendary Isaac Hayes theme. Boooo!

Cool. I remember that I loved the series Shaft, but can't remember much else about it, so I don't know how it compares.

Just not as good as the real Shaft, but maybe it was the times

I have not watched any of the original Shaft movies, but that did not interfere at all while I watched the movie. This movie was action-packed and hilarious all the way through. Who doesn't love a movie with Samuel L. Jackson in it?

I liked the second Shaft very much, but this one floored me. Witty, funny and engaging---full of action and very entertaining. Enjoy!
