The Southern Christian advocate contains information from many of the southern states with an emphasis on records from South Carolina and Georgia.
The "Southern Christian advocate," was 1st published in Charleston, South Carolina in 1837. In April of 1862 the place of publishing was changed to Augusta, Georgia. Publication ceased from April 13, 1865 & began again in Macon, Georgia on June 20, 1865. During the year 1878 the place of publication changed back to Charleston, South Carolina. The last place of publication was Columbia, South Carolina. The "Southen Christian advocate" was continued by the "South Carolina Methodist advocate.".
