This documentary is unique in that it takes viewers through the process of the Hajj, the fifth pillar of Islam. Because Mecca is off-limits to non-Muslims, this beautifully-filmed documentary is the closest non-Muslims are ever likely to come to seeing the Ka'ba. Only 1 hour long, we follow Muslims going on Hajj: an American convert from Texas, a couple from Malaysia, and a man from South Africa. We witness their preparations to leave, travels to Mecca, and the various Hajj rituals explained and performed. Going on Hajj is the journey of a lifetime for Muslims, who must all go if they are sane, healthy, and have the means to do so. The emotional experience of seeing the place they've prayed in the direction of - seeing the land in which Islam first grew - is deep and resonant with anyone who holds a faith tradition. Highly recommended!
