IMO This series breezes through the lives of the '5' Brit traitors, but a good crash course on the historical significance. If you don't like history I doubt you'll enjoy this. The ending selection on history pulls it together explaining how the ring came together, the total damage done to US Brit operations. Hundreds of lives were lost, families wiped out or damaged. The smugness of the Anglo class system revealed & somewhat finished, thankfully. It seemed over dramatized & stiff in parts where one has to consider the time & methods of production. The subject has been written about for 50+ years with many viewpoints. It took 25 years to strip most of the 5 of any dignity, honor & 3 died in a very dreary place. So much for the land they claimed to love, betray the country rather than a friend & end the lives of hundreds.

EuSei. this is a true story & much as u seem to hate it, some of the men WERE GAY. historical fact. google the characters. you are a bigot if you are offended by gay men!

(insane_smurf, would you also like to write something about the movie or didn't you watch it and just thought you'd stop by to harass me? For someone so "broadminded" you seem quite intolerant of other's opinions...) What a weird movie... One of the main characters—yes, I am aware of the fact that he was one of the “bad guys”!—states that one can only combat fascism by being a commie. Excuse me?! The other tells another guy his father died f*cking his mother… Two others are homosexual—or so it seemed by their flirting with other men… This is definitely the kind of movie I don’t care for.

What could make someone betray their country and lie to their closest friends and family? Cambridge Spies goes into the history and motivations of four young men from Cambridge who, for 15 years, enter the highest positions throughout the British establishment and pass on crucial information to the Soviets- not for money, but for principles. What really makes this production work is the superb performances by the actors, and a wonderful script.
