John Grisham, delivers another legal thriller of unparalled suspense. With fourteen years left on a twenty-year sentence, notorious Washington power broker, Joel Blackman, receives a surprise pardon from a lame-duck president. He is smuggled out of the country on a military cargo plane, given a new identity, and tucked away in a small town in Italy. But Blackman has serious enemies from his past. As the CIA watches him closely, the question is not whether he will be killed, but rather who will kill him first.

The download version is incomplete, it ends before the final chapter.

I was enjoying every aspect of this book, but did it end in chapter 9? I can't find anything that tells me how many chapters are in this book.

Although I could not follow all the details of the plot involving espionage, satellites, high-tech what-not, political high-jinks, etc., it was interesting to follow the life of the exile who learned to live in Europe under an alias, learned a new language, used various disguises, modes of transportation, etc., to avoid being murdered. It was the political-thriller version of "Planes, Trains and Automobiles".

Unfortunately the first tape was ruined, so I never got to hear it.
