I love a picture book where the illustrations tell just as much (or more) of the story as the text. And this one is funny to boot! Since it is intended for older readers, this one gets lost on our chapter book shelves, but I would argue that anyone who appreciates wordplay and a bit of dark humor will enjoy it.
Great for multiple readings!

This is not for young children, as for the rest, they will really enjoy this. It is a dark tale, but very amusing in that the "food" is so naive, and misses all the clues as to why they were invited.

A very cute book... maybe not the best for reading out loud because the words don't matter as much as the pictures. A great book for kids to understand that illustrations can be just as important as words in picture books

A pig and a goose, who are married of course, are invited to come to Eatum Hall to sample free gourmet food made by the mysterious Dr. Hunter. And while they gobble up the goodies morning, noon, and night, Dr. Hunter does not appear. Unless you are looking very hard at the pictures! Then you realize his true intent, and while the chase may be on, the Pork-Fowlers are oblivious to it all. The surprise ending about Dr. Hunter''s fate, or is it fete, will have you snorting with laughter.
