Excellent movie: dialogue, acting, peek into what it was like to be a new immigrant, plus a perfect mix of laughter and tears, just like real life, showing how strong women can be, as well as how gentle men can be. One of my all-time top 5 movie choices.

I liked this DVD. The script was strong. It was slow moving. Sex is subtle enough children can watch the movie. It was well acted. I like the actors.

Sweet, sad, charming, hilarious movie. Close-knit families can really relate to this family in many many ways.

An enchanting film, although it is an old film so some may not like it. An immigrant Norwegian family in San Francisco, but just as easily could have been Ballard.
