Step-by-step phonics instruction, very thorough/comprehensive. No pictures, by design, though the text kids are supposed to be reading is much smaller than standard readers use. I would think this would also help a student with learning various rules of spelling, as it clearly shows patterns with groups of examples.

Very clear step-by-step lessons and recommendations throughout. Great for homeschooling, remedial help, or just extra help teaching phonics.
