Based on the true story of American Rangers who rescue the survivors of the Bataan Death March from the Cabanatuan Prison Camp during WWII. When the Philippines fell to the Japanese, the remnants of Gen. MacArthur's Army were forced down the Bataan Penninsula where they were surrounded and cutoff with no hope of rescue. They were starving and dying of disease. Gen. Wainwright eventually surrendered and the troops were marched off to prison. Along the way thousands died or were murdered by the Japanese. They were taken to Camp O'Donnell and to Cabanatuan Prison Camps where they were starved and beaten. When MacArthur invaded the Philippines he made it a priority to rescue the remaining prisoners still alive in Japanese hands.

One super movie!

Touching movie, especially since it is actually based on real facts: the horrific Baatan Death March. 76,000 prisoners (12,000 Americans, the remainder Filipinos) started the 60 mile gruesome journey that lasted 5 days. 5,200 Americans and 10,000 Fillipinos died along the way—bayoneted, shot, beheaded, left to die on the side of the road, starved or by the “sun treatment” (hours under the baking sun with no water). The 50,000 survivors, diseased and starved, lived 3 years in a concentration camp designed to hold 10,000 prisoners. Many died under the Japanese brutal treatment: 20,000 Filipinos and 1,600 Americans. A must watch. Teach your children true History: let them watch this movie and get more info here: NOTICE: Attempts to censor (“Report this”) my comments will be fiercely fought under the aegis of American Libraries’ beloved principles: Freedom of Speech, Freedom to Read, Intellectual Freedom.
