Young Marian Sutro is recruited for work helping the British aid the French Resistance in WW II. But then, another organization wants her to convince a French physicist—a family friend—to leave the country and aid the British with the atomic bomb. Readers will watch Marian come of age in this page-turning saga of intrigue and espionage.
I put down 'Trapeze' and picked up the sequel 'Tightrope' as if just turning a page. I'm glad I’d checked out both at once. Wow!

If the Trapeze wait list is too long, check out The Girl Who Fell From the Sky, by Simon Mawer. Same excellent book, same author, different title. Strange.

the obsessive repetition of the secret hiding place for the crystals is kind of a juvenile fetish. as a plot device, it's okay the first time and after that we all know about the difference between boys and girls and its gratuitous.

I love spy novels, and this one was nice to have a female protagonist, even if it was a quick read. I look forward to reading this authors other novel.

1/2 British, 1/2 French Marian becomes a British spy during WW II. Fiction based on actual female spies. Well-written, intriguing character.

Despite an interesting premise, the writing in this book is so flat and the characters didn't feel like real people. I gave up before I got too far into it.
