Intrigue, emotions, training, and heartbreak. Wendy ran home to her host brother Matt, making her an easy target for the Vittra. However, there she meets Loki, and Vittra Markis and practical Prince. Her feelings begin to stir when he is around, and their witty banter makes her forget the problems she has been having with Finn, who seems more withdrawn than ever. Loki makes her feel as if he would do anything for her, while with Finn she will always come second to duty and honor. Who will she choose? Will she even be able to choose now that she is engaged? And what will become of both the Trylle and the Vittra if her father decides to finish what he practically already started by attacking the Trylle and decimating both communities?

A good continuation to the original story. The characters develop and come into themselves even more. New characters add to the complexity without muddling the story line.

I can't decide if I liked this book more or less than the first one in the series, Switched. Both were interesting, but the plot was more exciting in this one. Especially with the intoduction of Loki - because frankly I just don't get the Finn attraction (he's always putting his job first - ooh, big surprise). However, for some reason I just didn't enjoy reading this one as much as Switched...Anyhow, I'm just hoping the last book sums it all up nicely!

I loved this book ! Ohmygoodness!! It was so good and I found I alot better than the first book Swtiched. When I fin ished reading this book I literally screamed. I literally can't not wait to get my fingers on the third book and see what happens next. I going to go put it on hold right now. I love all the characters in the book. They all have great roles in her life , even her enemies. She has a connection with everyone even her aunt maggie and Kim her host mother that tried to kill her when she was younger. I loved reading each part. I was at awe at each page I read , and when I finished this book. I finished this BOOK IN A DAY!!! That's how much I love it , and man how I love the love triangle between Loki and Finn. I love the romance. I'm so into this trilogoly now. I wish it was a series instead of just three books. I loved it. It was better than the first book. I can't wait to read the third Ascend , and I really think every teenager should read these amazing books. Your such a good writer Amanda Hocking ! Five Stars. P.S If you read this book you'll be so suprised of what the character Tove really is. It's said in the end of the book.

See my review of Switched, which is Book One in this trilogy.
Now our Paranormal Princess is gaining more power AND more suitors. The most serious contender with hunky bodyguard is a frank, dark, suggestive young prince of...the Bad Guys of course. He's rebelling against his father's control and he's sexy! Other males love her too, but aren't really in the running, although a most powerful peer is training her and enjoys the favor of her mother and most of the court. She may have to marry him to save her people, although another "arranged" marriage with the rebel prince is a possibility. Shouldn't being rich, powerful, beautiful, loved, and royal be easier? All is wrapped up in Book Three, Ascend.

It had an amazing plot with characters that seemed like they could be real people! I found it a great story about magical creatures and how close our worlds are.

Finished it in less than a day and I already have the next book on hold. I wish the series were longer though! I know I'm going to feel quite empty when I reach the end. I really really like this series and I didn't expect I would! It's interesting to read about a princess, but a magical princess...amazing storyline. Great characters. I love each and every one of them (except maybe Aurora and Oren :p) and I especially love Finn and Wendy. Not just together, but individually as well. And it's really rare for me to like the female protagonists in books, but I love Wendy. She's stubborn - that's nothing new - but she's kind, so kind and genuine. And I love her. She and Sophie from Hex Hall are my two favourite female protagonists in supernatural stories :)
