This is a beautifully-illustrated book and a poignant tale about loss and nature and memories. But I can't get past that the story is based on scientific inaccuracies. Trees don't grow in a way that can lift up a house. They don't push upwards, but grow from the top and sides. Children shouldn't be taught things like this that are untruthful.

My five year old likes this story a lot. Not sure why. It is beautifully written but a bit melancholy for my taste. But the kid likes it! Maybe because it is about a "tree" house.?

Nature is amazing, when given the chance it can reclaim what it has lost. Some of the angles the artist uses adds great depth to a story with relatively little to portray. There is a slightly sombre note, for the house had to be abandoned before the forest could move back in, but because the trees raise up the house, it seems to suggest that the memories of that place are being honoured.
