Here, Chris Guillebeau shows you how to lead a life of adventure, meaning and purpose--and earn a good living. Still in his early thirties, Chris has traveled around the world--and yet he's never held a "real job" or earned a regular paycheck. Rather, he has a genius for turning ideas into income, and he uses what he earns both to support his life of adventure and to give back. In preparing to write this book, Chris identified 1,500 individuals who have built businesses earning $50,000 or more from a modest investment, and he's focused on the 50 most intriguing case studies. Here, distilled into one easy-to-use guide, are the most valuable lessons from those who've learned how to turn what they do into a gateway to self-fulfillment. It's all about finding the intersection between your expertise and what other people will pay for. You don't need an MBA, a business plan or even employees. All you need is a product or service that springs from what you love to do anyway, people willing to pay, and a way to get paid.--From publisher description.

Thinking of starting your own business? With a modest investment, the author describes how ordinary people, drawing on their personal passion, developed a successful product or service. As the author points out, anyone with some effort, persistence, and a workable plan can do the same. — Denis M., North Regional Library

Excellent read - so informative, resourceful, fascinating and useful that you'll finish this book quickly. This book will help you out no matter what kind of microbusiness you wish to start up. This is a keeper - I'm going out to buy this book.

I literally just finished this book about 10 mins ago and I am leaving encouraged and apprehensive all at once! I never thought Entrepreneur as a title for myself but my mind has definitely changed! I am definitely Ready!

This is a good book for anyone who's considering starting a small or micro business. It has lots of lists, pointers, and true-life stories about making a living as your own boss. I especially like the author's three "musts" for getting started -- 1) have a product or service, 2) have people willing to pay for that product or service, and 3) have a way to get paid.

There are some good ideas in here. It is a short book and I find the format (boxes, etc.) distracting, but it is a quick read that will stimulate your brain.

Great book. The stories of the entrepreneurs the author met at different locations around world are very interesting. Especially how they got on the first step to start their own business.

"The One Hundred Dollar Startup" tells an inspirational story of numerous successful micro-business startups. People who are quitting jobs they weren't satisfied with, and starting a new step in their lives. People working when they want to, working for themselves, enjoying what they're doing, and in the process still earn a substantial amount of money that they can feel comfortable having. The book also gives a great guide on how you can do it too. In case you get lost, the crucial points of the chapter written at the closing of each chapter certainly can be useful. I would happily recommend this book to people that can't find a job that fits their interests. If you want a book to enjoy and feel inspired by this book works well too.
