This started very slow paced with lots of dialogue. It wasn't until half way through the 2nd episode that it became more interesting and less like a stage play. Worth a watch.

If you loved the series, you'll also love the books written by Jennifer Worth (the real life Jenny midwife) upon whose experiences this series is based. There are 3 non-fiction books that include some of the stories depicted in Call the Midwife, seasons 1-3.

I just love this BBC show!!

This is a wonderful series. Looking forward to the 2nd season. It takes me back in time to life in Britain when I was a child.

This series is so good! Great acting, sets and the oh so perfect late 50's music. The voice over narration by Vanessa Redgrave looks back to the era without nostalgia but with insight and empathy for all. This series is a perfect antidote to Downton Abbey as the lower classes lives in the slums of London are explored through the eyes of these government midwife/nurses. Not so surprisingly the National Health Care avail. in economically devastated post war England is a lot better than what we get in Canada these days and is referred to many times as a benefit available to all. Anyways great series and looking forward to Season two. Hope the library brings in the soundtrack as well-we can get out our crinolines and dance!
