Sophy Henn's illustrations offer a cozy sensibility, with calm, muted colors and adorable characters. Despite Bear's long claws, he sure looks like a sweetheart. Light on text, the story is perfect for young ones to follow.

Adorable! Bear has gotten too big and bearish to live at home anymore. So his roommate, a little boy, sets out to find his friend the perfect place to live. Some bear-friendly ideas include: a toy store, the circus, and the woods. With each suggestion, this cuddly critter says "No", prompting the boy to repeat, "Then where, Bear?". Stumped, the two head home where it hits the boy, this is a polar bear, maybe the Arctic would be best. Distance immediately mends their relations for they now can live their lives without stomping on each others toes. The tone of each page changes with the solid-coloured backgrounds, but overall it is delightful and fun. Next to such hues, the white of the boy and bear stands out, keeping their cuteness in focus. The artist's simple designs express a lot, in particular the bear's reactions to the boy's ideas are quite amusing. Bear may have found a "There", but the final return of "Where, Bear?" reassures us that these two will get together, thus remaining lifelong friends.
