A patron review from the Adult Summer Reading Game: "A Widow's Awakening" is the true story of a young Calgary woman who struggles through the first year of widowhood. Her extreme sorrow and anger lead to questions about life, religion, suicide, love and how her husband ended up dead. While at points her depths of despair seem to last forever, the author paints a candid description of the heartache of losing one's soul mate. The amazing reality is that her husband's death gave her the financial means and the storyline for her first novel - something she struggled to write for years while married. This book opened my eyes to the raw pain of loss and the human resilience of the spirit. Read this when you're able to handle emotional non-fiction.
