Emmy-nominee Mimi Rogers (Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery," Lost in Space") is riveting as a Los Angeles telephone operator who tires of mate-swapping and turns to a religious sect for spiritual guidance. Director/Writer Michael Tolkins (The Player," Deep Impact") bold approach to religious themes makes this tragic drama both a demanding and unforgettable experience. It's an amazing, disturbing story of squandered life, rebirth, and tested faith. Also starring Emmy-nominee David Duchovny (House of D," TVs The X Files").

Not a Christian movie, the title is misleading. Confused woman loses control, and she is boring while doing so.

I was very disappointed with this movie. i fast forwarded through the sex acts and nudity -- i thought i was getting something Bible related about the Rapture; very disappointed to the point of 'speechless'... I think the producers and directors were only making fun of the Bible.

An odd bit of a movie, though NYPL's synopsis is reasonable. The early part is very prurient - nudity and soft-core sex, some of it sensual, some silly. The bored protagonist then prays for a religious conversion which she gets, marries and has a daughter. She goes off the deep end of religious mania, taking her daughter with her. The usual comments about not being "saved" are present without being overdone. Some of the movie gets close to inspired; at other times it's wooden. This might be a case of a good movie with an excellent one trying to get out.

This was really a stupid show.

I saw this movie years ago, and initially almost shut it off due to extreme graphic nature in the beginning- but it was necessary to show her hedonistic ways prior to finding religion. I found it gripping, emotional, and actually weeped at several points. If you believe in God, it will make you question your believe in his nature. Some movies stick with you, and this was one that I've thought about periodically over the years. Worth watching!
