Wow, jpdanzig really hated this film. If you're a fan of Dario Argento, well, you'll probably like this. It has his typical mix of bold visuals, inventively grisly murders, slightly bat sh*** crazy plotting, and cool music (the soundtrack includes Iron Maiden, Motorhead, Rolling Stone Bill Wyman, and Goblin, who scored "Suspiria"). Yeah, it's not that well acted and borders on the ludicrous (Jennifer Connelly can speak to insects), but those aren't defects in an Argento film. Like "Suspiria" and "Inferno," he adds a supernatural element to the giallo genre. If you're not a fan of Argento, I'd start with "Suspiria" or "Deep Red" first. BTW, this was Connelly's second film, her first was "Once Upon a Time in America." Donald Pleasence plays a wheelchair-bound entomologist. Also, there's a chimp, which apparently bit Connelly.

One of the most ineptly written, directed, and acted films I've ever seen. It's ludicrous that Joe Franklin referred to Dario Argento as the new Hitchcock of horror films. Ed Wood is a more appropriate comparison, except I doubt Argento looked as good in angora! This must have been Jennifer Connelly's first onscreen performance, and it's a wonderment that this awful film and her own dreadful performance here didn't dissuade her from finding a different career path. If you still want to watch this ridiculous pile of poo, don't say I didn't warn you!
