Thomas Wharton Collins, The American Revolution,and Covington
In conjunction with America's 250th celebration, Jack Terry will present “Thomas Wharton, the Revolution and Covington” on Saturday, July 11 at 10:30 am at the Covington Library. The presentation will re-examine the life of Thomas Wharton Collins from birth to his death in Canada focusing specifically on his and his families lives in Philadelphia where he faced and survived several life-threating events. Mr. Terry is a native of New Orleans and graduated from St. Aloysius High School (now Brother Martin), Tulane University, and obtained his master's degree in Nuclear Engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology. After retiring from the government, he and his wife Sandra moved to Covington in 2009. Mr. Terry was the recipient of the Covington Heritage Foundation Excellence in Preservation Award in 2015 and in 2024 received a proclamation from the Covington City Council for his work in preserving Covington’s history.
This class is free and open to the public. Seating space is limited to adults. Registration is required. The library welcomes people of all abilities to programs.
