Tablet to Tablet: The Codex

During November 2017, the Mandeville Branch of the St. Tammany Parish Library is hosting an exhibit entitled "Reading the World: Tablet to Tablet." The exhibit traces the history of the written word from the stone tablet to the modern computer tablet. The codex was the first modern book form and first appears in the historical record in the 1st century BCE. Originally codices were written by hand and many were illustrated as well. These works of art became known as illuminated manuscripts.
